I would like to share with you a fabulous event that I went to yesterday and encourage you to be on the look out for the event next year at this time and put it on your "To Do" list. You will truly be blessed.
I attended the Senior Symposium 2012 that was presented by Westminister Towers Continuing Care Retirement Community here in Rock Hill, SC, HomeBridge, Alzheimer's Association, and the Parkinson Association of the Carolina. The seminar was designed to empower and inspire Senior Adults as well as industry professionals and that is indeed what it did!
Very helpful and interesting topics presented included the following:
- Memory Matters: Fact vs Fiction
- How to Effectively Communicate with your Physician
- Managing Difficult Behaviors
- Staying Young at Heart
- Six Things to Do Before You are Sixty
- Discovering Resources, and the most touching and exciting closing session that I can ever recall,
- Age of Champions: Heroes Among Us which showcased seven different residents from Westminister Towers, ages 82 to 101, who exemplified the Seven Dimensions of Wellness: Emotional, Environmental, Intellectual, Physical, Social, Spiritual, and Vocational. It was truly amazing to hear their stories and the purposes in their lives that keep them...Young at Heart!
